Eric Bayer has a character I wanted to read about, his closed off demeanor had me intrigued. Eric meeting Alex was a perfect combo, all the banter, thee fake relationship, bodyguard story behind everything made this story a great one. This new series will become one of my favorite ones, as all of the previous ones, Sarina Bowen just knows how to get me in. Great five star and can't wait for the next one.
This was just what I needed! I wanted a sexy, feel-good romance with wonderful characters and an abundance of chemistry and that is exactly what I got. I only discovered Sarina Bowen less than two years ago and I have read all of her books yet but I have read quite a few. I have yet to be disappointed. There is just something about the way she tells a story that works for me so I was really excited to read this new book and I ended up enjoying every moment of it.

Eric and Alex were childhood friends. They spent time together while their fathers were working. Eric always seemed to follow Alex's lead. Many years later, Eric plays hockey professionally while Alex is running a large company. When Alex needs security, she turns to Eric's show more brother, Max, and before she knows it she is headed off to Hawaii for a conference with a fake boyfriend in tow.

I loved these two together. Eric was funny and playful with Alex and it seemed to be exactly what she needed. Alex is under a lot of stress but she seems to let go with Eric. They both know that it can't last but they can't seem to resist each other. They are really good for each other being what each other needed in so many different circumstances.

I would highly recommend this book to others. This was a really well-done story filled with some really wonderful heartfelt moments, a mystery that kept me guessing, some toe-curling sexy scenes and a few laughs. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author's work.

I received a digital review copy of this book from the author/publicist.

Sarina Bowen’s Moonlighter (The Company #1) is out of this world. In this story, NHL player, Eric Bayer, is enlisted to help out with his brother’s global security company. He is assigned to pretend to be the boyfriend of his childhood friend, Alex Engels, in order to protect her from her stalker ex-boyfriend. This novel is suitable for adult readers. It takes place in New York and Hawaii.

I adored this story. Moonlighter has a little of everything: romance, drama, humor, action, sports, and corporate espionage. It is an exciting read throughout. It is skillfully written and full of twists. The novel has a lot of things going on. Be warned, this book is hard to put down.

I love the characters. Eric is a veteran hockey player. Alex is show more a powerful female CEO. They start the story in an awkward situation. They eventually fall back to the ease of their friendship in their youth and act on their attraction to one another. The characters are challenged and grow throughout the story. I love that characters from Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers Series make appearances in this novel. I recommend this book to people that enjoy friends to lovers romance with lots of action. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book. show less

very funny* to read a book where heroine is super feminist and then the fact that she'll read these books to her child
Good story.
Pushing away a bit from both at times.
Heroine is pregnant with exes baby.
Hero is connected to previous series, hockey player.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Ex drama for heroine.
