I found this book to be very simple but very powerful. There are three baby bears that are referred to as the most wonderful baby bears in the whole wide world but by being told so they began to wonder what if one was better than the other. These are all questions that siblings have wondered. My sister is only 16 months older than me and I know we always used to fight over who mom's favorite was. This book is a fantastic gateway to talk about this topic. I mentioned earlier that I loved how simple this book was and that goes for the illustrations. Each bear is just a little different but that changes everything in the world for them. One of the bears mentioned that 'I'm only the littlest, everybody is bigger than me!' and he worried show more that that may be the reason why he wouldn't be the favorite. I can see this being a very important and special nighttime book to young readers. show less
You’re All My Favorites
“You’re All My Favorites” by Sam McBratney is another of my favorites. I have three boys who battle over being the favorite and this book puts a spin on it that no child can argue. The baby bears questions “Who is your favorite? We can’t all be the best.” As Mommy and Daddy bear explain to each bear why they are the “The Most perfect (first), (second), and (third) baby bear that anyone has ever seen” the reader is engaged. All children with siblings, struggle with sibling rivalry and this book pushes readers to deal with this issue; however, the suspense of the answer is heartwarming. It allows readers to feel loved for their own uniqueness and personal qualities. The illustrations are big and show more fill the page with scenes of the bears loving their cubs. Even the detail in the parent bear’s eyes shows love. The big idea of this story is to deal with children wanting to be the favorite. show less

There are some cute moments (when the parents reassure the baby bears that they're all their favourites and the baby bears think "that was a good answer" and go to sleep), but sometimes this tips over into saccharine ("biggly or littly, it makes no difference"; and I have a relatively high saccharine threshold); and most of all, I cannot fucking believe they had the girl bear worry that she wasn't good enough because she was a girl and not because e.g. she didn't have patches (that was her big brother), when it would have functionally changed nothing to have it be one of the boy bears worrying that he wasn't as good because he wasn't a girl. Part of the problem, Sam McBratney!
It was such a sweet book. Children who have siblings always feel like their parents have a favorite but this book shows in a simple way that parents love their children equally.
Once upon a time, a mother bear and a father bear told their three little cubs they were the best bears in the whole wide world. But the baby bears begin to wonder if each of them can really be the best. It doesn’t seem possible that they could all be the favorite? Or could they?
This charming picture book offers young readers a reassuring message and the delightful illustrations accompany an easy narrative. This book is certain to be a favorite of young readers and their parents.
Highly recommended.

I have 3 children so this book was a must for my family. I would always tell each child that they were my "favorite". They knew I had no favorite child so it was a running joke in our house. This book lets siblings know that they are just as important and favored by their parents.
This McBratney story focuses on three bear siblings who wonder who their mama and papa bear favor the most. They are all different, but their difference don't matter to their parents, as they are all their favorites. A great story to read to young children with siblings.
