The Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, born Else Hildegard Ploetz, worked first as a model, posing for artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, and others. She also produced her own Dadaist art, using found materials and her own body and dress, sauntering through Greenwich Village in outrageous attire and partial nudity. Her poetry was deemed "mad" by readers ofThe Little Review. This is the first major selection of her work.
