Quinn and her next-door neighbor Mike are observing their seven other neighbors, known as the Oldies because of their age. There's something not quite right about them, from the bandages they're always wearing, the makeup on their faces, and physical ailments that suddenly improve. There is also something dangerous about the pond in their neighborhood; it seems to lure only Quinn and possibly at her peril. Young readers who know a scary old neighbor will be doubly freaked after reading this. Just scary enough for older elementary looking for a chill and thrill.
It was okay, a little slow. Nothing groundbreaking, just your average middle grade mystery.
