She was still writing adult novels, but was persuaded to write several horse books for Bantam. Because of the success of the Bantam books, A Horse of Her Own, and The Wild Mustang, she was approached several years later to write a four book series about Thoroughbred racing, and thus began the Thoroughbred Series. She wrote the first 14 books in the series, as well as Shadowbrook Farm and Battlecry Forever!. In 1996, she chose to focus on writing adult novels and let other writers take over writing all future Thoroughbred books.
