Good News Bible, Today's English Version

Although much easier to read than other versions of the BIble, this one strips a great deal of the poetry, and also finds it necessary to change some of the words and phrases to make them more palatable to modern audiences.

An enjoyable translation for Bible reading/study. I did feel the clear modern day communication of thoughts. I especially enjoyed using this for musing the Proverbs and Psalms.

A simple translation but not a paraphrase. We call it the Stick Person Bible because of the illustrations. This was the Bible our church gave to all the second-graders.

I consult this book like some people consult a map book. It gives direction to my life.

Well, it was free. Free books usually are not good books, things of value are not often given away. Better than the Hare Krishna books that are given away though. The pictures in those things are wacky. I prefer the Principa Discordia or the Tao Te Ching. Also, the paper is wicked thin so it rips and creases easily. Story is a bit dull, it would have been better with the inclusion of some motorcycle chases. Excellent for squashing bugs!

Good News Bible : The Bible in Today’s English Version, is a translation of the Bible in more modern language. It has line drawings of various stories and a word list, maps, a chronology of the Bible, and subject index. It is found on the library shelves under the number 220.52/BIB.
