This is a very good introduction to the general view of scholars about the New Testament. Although I don't agree with much of it, the author is very balanced, objective without any bias or vitriol, easy to understand, and cites many further references on each New Testament book. He covers all major aspects and so this is an excellent starting point for New Testament issues. Belongs to Publisher Series
Matters dealt with in this one-volume introduction are: literary character, theological aim, place and time of writing and authorship of various writings. Excellent surveys of the origin and development of the canon, history of the text, and the present state of New Testament criticism are also discussed. No library descriptions found. |
