Description

Without my sister, the world seems darker than ever before and the shadows loom thicker, rising up to answer the call of the Shadow Princess and changing the face of Solaria for good. Now Lionel Acrux has the strength to make a move for the throne, I'm not sure how much time we have left to stop him. Our only hope is to find the Imperial Star before he does. We made the sacrifice the stars called for and we're paying the price for that decision so it can't be for nothing. But with the stars show more turning against us at every move, and the last light in the world seeming to fade, I'm afraid we're almost out of time. show less

This was not my favorite in the ZA series... honestly, that probably goes to the first few books. This one was good, it progressed the story, but not enough actually happened for how many pages it contains. This is a looooooong and drawn out way of giving us 300 pages worth of really good content, in my opinion. That said, you can't continue the series without it, so be prepared to get a little long in the tooth around the middle portion especially. I said what I said...
Boy oh boy, these characters hold my heart in their hands. The only reason we are short of 5 stars here is the lack of hope - While I love a good rollercoaster, the future is feeling quite hopeless for our main characters and I didn't love how few "wins" they encountered in this book. But make no mistake, the writing and the plot are still outstanding and I'm already rushing to the next one!
Same as the last book, this one was too long for no reason. I did find we got more actual plot in this book than the previous and finally a big battle. I'm curious to know what's going to happen next but I think we're at the point where the authors are dragging things along to get more books out of it. This series could have been done a couple book ago.

We're also getting a lot of repetition with characters and plot points. Everything is being blamed on fate and it's getting a bit tired. With a book this long I was expecting A LOT more.
Felt like very little wins on this one, The characters have definitely found a place in my heart. I am invested

Your father took everything from us. A chance to grow up loved in the world where we belong, the chance to come into our powers early and learn all the things you were gifted so easily. And even after everything that’s happened, you still want to keep stealing from us, don’t you? You still believe that you and the other Heirs are more suited to sit on the throne than we are. Even though it is our birth right. Even though we are more powerful than you. Even though we had to lose everything to get where we are.”

I’m not sure how I feel about this book, it was good but I’m afraid I expected to love it and maybe I didn’t?

Overall it was lighter than the previous one and there was more good stuff happening, so luckily no crying this time
