It was definitely interesting to see more of the reasoning behind character actions in the film, but too much of this was "and then a weird thing happened that we're just not going to explain because it happened in the film purely to look cool and/or be ambiguous". I also think the art in this novel is some of the worst of the light novels. Quite frankly, the writing itself is rather bad, as well. It mostly subsists on the fact that I can see the film in my head as I'm reading, and I really liked the film, so the story works on that front. I also love all the paragraphs devoted to describing Chuuya in ridiculous over-detail. But I'm glad we have the manga because this is kind of disappointing.
