Set in the picturesque town of Antietam this is the story of two of the brothers and their romances. The First is Devin, the sheriff of the town. He's loved Cassie Connor for many years and helped her get away from her abusive husband. But does she regard him as just a friend and is she ready to love another man after the abuse her husband gave her? ALso are her children ready to embrace a new man in their lives?

Shane is the farmer of the family and a ladies man. Rebecca Knight is an academic who collects degrees for fun and at the moment she's researching the ghosts of Antietam. Is he willing to leave his batchelorhood aside for her and is she willing to leave the city for the countryside he loves.

Both pretty predictable Nora Roberts show more fare, fun and engaging. show less
My mom bought me this book since she's read some of Nora Robert's books and she thought I would love it and she was right! i absolutely fell in love with Shane, as first I was confused on some parks but then I realized when the book was published and it started to click in my head. The second chance romance in Devin's story was just
Both of these were rather sweet stories. I'm kind of iffy on the supernatural element, I'm guessing it's a thread that runs through the first two books as well). I really liked Devin and Shane as good, loving, strong men with flaws. I definitely want to go back and read Jared and Rafe's stories to get more of this family.
The MacKade brothers are known for their wild ways. This book tells how two of them found romance and settled down with their true loves. There are a lot of obstacles along the way, such as a jealous and abusive ex-husband, and Roberts also throws in a touch of the paranormal, as the area where the MacKade's live seems to be haunted by spirits from the past. I'm not a huge romance fan, but these touches do make it a bit more interesting than the average love story.

I don't know much about the battle of Antietam. This has made me want to know more even though it is a romance. I loved Rebecca and related to her in some ways.
This was a really good book. The drama and ghosts and brothers all put together made it really interesting to read.
