Growing up, my mother had a copy of this book, and when I moved into my first home, she bought a copy for me. I have referred to this book many times for many things. It is so useful to have around. It covers everythiing from sunburn to shingles to jellyfish stings and everything in between. Some tips are just plain common sense or well-known remedies, but there is also alot of advice and tips that come in handy when you have tried everything you can think of. Very useful knowledge and easy to use...everything is in alphabetical order. Thanks mom!
I am skeptical of home remedies so I admit that I am not favorably disposed toward this book. But it does have a lot of common sense, basic ideas, some little more than reasonable first aid. Just don't let this book substitute for real medical treatment.

This book is very similar to the "Folk Remedy: 1001 home remedies ..." which I reviewed earlier, except that this one IS written by the editors of Prevention Magazine. It contains more health problems than the other book, and the advice is probably a little better. Overall, a harmless book.
Great info to have around. Books like this are probably becoming obsolete since you can look up things on the internet. But for some older people I know the printed word somehow seems more reliable that the internet.
