dnf @ pg 60

I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters and found their encounters uncomfortable tbh. The first sex scene was cringey.
One of the main characters was in a bad previous relationship with an D/s dynamic that made me intensely uncomfortable. And it led to the present day where MC is afraid to safe-word out of the scene with a (basically) stranger because he's afraid of consequences (previous partner's style of D was punishing his s by pain=beating) and after that "training" he just did whatever his previous partner wanted to not disappoint him, including having sex with him.
IDK if it's me but that dynamic screams of abuse and I don't think author succeeded in delivering this part of the story.

Besidse the kink there is show more not much substance to the story - it unfortunately tries to be everything at once and falls short on all accords.

Obviously I read until page 60 and dnfing it, so maybe story improves after that?

I'd recommend 1st book in the series (Cup of Joe by Annabeth Albert) if you want go read something like this because it follows the same tropes, but executed much better
show less
A good contemporary romance with men and dogs.
