Bah, maybe I was less patient with this than I should have been, but even though I'm less than 3 months from my own wedding (!!!!) this was still one of the most god-awful, cliche, trite, predictable, boring, and inconsequential bits of tripe I've ever forced myself to finish. I can save you lots of time by summarizing this book in the following paragraph:

Laurel bakes cakes, lots of them and they dazzle all the brides who order them! And she has been in love with her best friend's brother for YEARS AND YEARS but she's never told anyone, until one night she KISSES him (on the MOUTH!!!!) to "prove a point" -- which I'm a little unclear about, but I think it was something about how he shouldn't be too protective of her because they're not show more brother and sister, because SEE she can KISS him on the MOUTH. And so of course they both then realize they are crazy about each other, because kisses are magic. In order to get the book to a proper length, there's some unnecessary drama where she worries that people think she's a golddigger because he's rich and she's not, and she flips out on him for offering to pay her back for some groceries she buys for a party. That part is as stupid as it sounds. And so he realizes that she needs reassurance that he really is serious about her, and isn't just sleeping with her because it's cool to get laid by your sister's best friend, so HE DRIVES ALL NIGHT AFTER THEIR FIGHT TO GET HIS MOTHER'S RING AND COME BACK TO PROPOSE TO HER AT SUNRISE. Because, you know, makeup proposals are even better than makeup sex. show less
So I reached the third volume in the bridal quartet and I'm so excited to see Chef Laurel and Del fall in love. In the second book, Bed of Roses, Nora Roberts has kind of outlined the two last books, and who the girls will fall in love with. I just love to see how it all builds up and falls in the perfect place.

It was heart wrenching to see how much Laurel wanted and loved Del since they were kids. I'm so glad he finally saw her as more than a younger sister and as his sister Parker's best friend.

Linda, Mac's mom is a total nightmare! I feel sorry for Mac but at least she got her man, who loves her, her best friends and a job that is more than a home and a hobby.

I loved the holiday chapters, it was nice to see our girls relaxing and show more having fun, I'm excited to read about Parker and Mel, but I'm also sad that the next book will be the last one. show less
Laurel McBane has always been in love with Del Brown, an inconvenient truth as he's the older brother of one of her best friends and business partners. While she sees him constantly as he does the legal advising for the wedding planning business, a friendly spat turns into something far more intense when she impulsively kisses him. Now Laurel and Del must figure out if their romance is a brief fling or something more.

Third in the series, Laurel's romance with Del is sweet with pretty low stakes conflict. As Laurel is a wedding cake baker, there's plenty of descriptions of cakes and several other desserts so if you're suggestible and have a sweet tooth, make sure you have some treats on hand. The writing in this one was a bit rockier show more than what I'm used to in a Nora Roberts novel - mostly just dialogue with unclear speakers and transitions in perspective not being marked clearly. Also naming one character Mac and another Mal is just mean. That said the final chapters involve a trip to a beach house that are written super well and dang do I want to go on vacation now. show less

This ended up being my highest rated book out of the Bride Quartet series. Probably cause of the mess that Emma and the crew did in book #2 ended up annoying the crap out of me. This one was a really great slow burning romance that thank God had none of the drama of the second book.

Book #3 is about Laurel. Laurel is the baker for the wedding planning business. She ends up getting involved with Del (Parker's brother) and feels out of sorts about how their "relationship" came about and what it even means. Laurel is stubborn about things, but I liked her a lot. She was snarly and combative with her love interest, but it was a nice change of pace.

Del has been a long time fan of all of the "girls". Del at times you got to see was overly show more protective of all of the women in the series, and though it was a little much at times, it wasn't offputting. He honestly reminded me of Josh Templeton from the "Daring to Dream" series. I liked that he didn't let Laurel push him away and listened to her and made sure she listened to him.

Reading about people working out is boring. Seriously. I could not believe that Roberts included scenes of that. I didn't care about Mac working out to look nice in her wedding dress. I just rolled my eyes. The wedding scenes at this point are here to stay along with the acronyms galore. I honestly just rolled my eyes at how all of the heroes in this series who have full time jobs by the way, happen to always be around to help out the women. It's like how Roarke is always running after Eve like he doesn't have a full time job dealing with a million things.

Third in the Bridal Quartet series, Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts is Laurel McBane and Delaney Brown's story.

Laurel runs the baking side of Vows and is a brilliantly creative and beautiful woman who has accomplished much throughout her life and keeps her feet firmly planted on the ground. She came from a tough family background, but fought hard for what she wanted and didn't back down. Del is a smart, good-looking lawyer who treats everyone with respect, and definitely takes care of "his girls." But when he stops looking at Laurel like a sister, things really heat up and get interesting. They end up agreeing to date for 30 days, with no sex, a sure fire disaster.

Overall, this book was good but it’s not my favorite of the bunch. show more The best part of this book was getting to know Laurel while she was at work. I loved reading about all the beautifully decorated cakes. I felt like the obstacles Nora put in their way were so easily overcome, making the narrative too comfortable and fairly bland.

It was good to see the girls and their guys all together again. I can’t wait for Parker and Mal’s story in the final book of the quartet, [b:Happy Ever After|7074000|Happy Ever After (Bride Quartet, #4)|Nora Roberts|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348953880l/7074000._SX50_.jpg|7327847]A

Laurel McBane has loved Delaney Brown since they were kids, but has never acted on it because Del is Parker's brother. Laurel can't allow anything to cause a rift between herself, Parker, Mac, and Emma, but one night when she is angry with Del, she lets him have it in the form of a kiss instead of a punch. From that moment on, everything changes as their decision to date but not have sex for thirty days, inspires a pool among the members of the group as to how many days under thirty they can wait.

Savor the Moment is similar to the second book in the Bride Quartet, Bed of Roses, in that Laurel and Del have been part of the same friend group since childhood and are now involved. The difference in the story is the characterization of show more Laurel and Del as well as the insertion of Mal to their gang. Laurel's baking adds to the story as many of her creations are described in detail. Although this book is eleven years old, it reminds me of many of the recent romances based around cooking, making it seem well ahead of its time. Overall, Savor the Moment is another enjoyable addition to the Bride Quartet. show less

Laurel's tart fairy tale romance offers few surprises, but it's impossible to deny Roberts's flair for sketching likable couples.
