Entering this book, I knew things would be overall intense and twisted, but what surprised me was all the different emotions I went through while reading. Emotions like nail biting suspense, steamy moments, heart pounding intensity, and so much more. This book isn’t for the faint of heart, yet as someone who has read quite a few dark reads, this isn’t as dark as I’ve consumed. Remember when entering a dark world heed those trigger warnings, they are there for a reason and if it’s not your cup of tea then bypass, but you’ll be missing out on a roller-coaster ride that is epic. This book follows Dash, who is a thief, after a job goes wrong, he is sent to Alabaster Pen. This is an off-grid prison that follows its own rules with very little to no chances of escape. The guards are at times worse than the inmates, they follow their own rules, and can make anyone’s survival here miserable. Dash’s story is full of twists, surprises, and so much more. He of course has his own issues, but to survive he will have to try to keep his head down which isn’t easy in this place. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop because I was so wrapped up in it waiting for something to jump out and grab me on second, to holding my breath the next, and my heart broke a few times because Dash’s struggles were so real. I really enjoyed this story and will dive right into the next, just remember when entering Alabaster Pen. leave your morals at the door, follow the journey, and always expect the unexpected. ( ) Good, But not for everyone I started this book immediately after reading Push, which currently ranks at number 1, on my favorite M/M books. This was not Push. Not even remotely. The only thing these two books have in common is that they are both well written and the sex scenes are very hot . To say this book is darker is an understatement. I won't give you a bunch of spoilers, but if you just can't read about unconsenting sex in any form you shouldn't read this. If you are less sensitive , give this book a try. This is Alabaster Penitentiary? Where they send you when the world thinks you're dead. And trust me, you'll wish you were. We're the stain on society. The freaks, the creeps, your favorite Netflix documentaries come to life. They lock us up and throw away the key, because we deserve it. But not me. I'm just a lowly bank robber. I don't belong here, surrounded by psychopaths and killers with no remorse? At least, I don't think I do.Getting by unscathed is my top priority. Unfortunately for me and my fellow prisoners, those in charge are more dangerous than we are. You see, the guards run the show, and I seem to have caught the attention of the most twisted one. He has a name, but it might as well be Officer. We move around one another like a sun and a moon, revolving in an axis of confused lust and torment until the truth is distorted, and the thing I once feared becomes that which I crave; my vile addiction, somehow so exquisite. Reality warps in the dungeon, and I'm left wondering which prison is worse? the one holding my body, or my mind. No library descriptions found. |
