PreS-Gr 3—This book will remind kid lit fans of another book about an unforgettable bull—Ferdinand. Toxic
masculinity meets its kryptonite, and his name is Clovis, a bull and former linebacker, who takes over his granny's
china shop. He has something of a temper, Clovis does, but when he gets bullied, he handles provocation with
charm and understanding.

Clovis literally is a bull who works in a china shop. His hard-hitting football days are behind him and he finds a sense of calm taking care of the shop, sipping tea, holding yoga poses, deep breathing, and playing soothing music. But rival players stop by to tease Clovis and each time he fights to maintain self-control...until the day he can't. This makes a good read-aloud and jumping-off point to discuss feelings of anger and ways to manage it.
