Slow kill is the title but boring story is what it is. The story itself would have been very good in more capable hands. At no point did it seem like a story instead it was just a bunch of facts and plot points being revealed. All of the characters were wooden and one dimensional.
I can’t believe this author is as popular as the reviews led me to believe.

The latest in McGarrity's Kevin Kearny series broadens locales to include California and Virgina as well as New Mexico. The story is satisfying in many respects -- it speaks to the challenges of long-distance marriage and parenthood, of multi-state law enforcement cooperation, and of tying up the loose ends in a case. To its credit, there are some ends left loose. On the downside, the motive for the primary crime is a bit thin, and in the secondary story line obstacles are rather glibly overcome through Kearny's relationship to highly placed people.
Synopsis: Sara and young Patrick are living outside of DC and Kerney misses them both. While they are apart, he has decided to buy some horses for the ranch. While doing this rather pleasant task, he discovers the man in the next room has died. This death leads him on the trail of a dead enlisted man, drug trafficking, and, of course, murder.
Review: This is one of McGarrity's better offerings. The continued evolution of the characters is lending depth to the stories.

Eh, it was ok. But hey, I added another series to my "Don't Have to Read this Series" list. Haha. The characters weren't too likeable, the police work/plot was shoddy at best. No thanks.
Michael McGarrity returns with the latest installment of his series featuring Santa Fe Police Chief Kevin Kerney. Kerney travels outside of New Mexico and becomes a murder suspect. The case has ties to Santa Fe, the FBI, and a Vietnam KIA. Smooth reading.
