What in the wide world of reading did I just read? Was that meant to be heartfelt? My heart must be made of stone, because I didn't feel a single thing but loathing towards the mayor and a lack of sympathy for the Mitford residents. I don't feel like this story did anything but waste paper and ink.
The snowmen pictures were cute, but I don't think Mitford is a place that I would like to live. It consists of a tax-raising-money-grabbing-self-absorbed mayor and a bunch of poor people who had no consideration for their health. [and who aren't smart enough to realize that infrastructure is useless when there is nothing to see in the town except snowmen. The ballpark would have to be present so the infrastructure was actually worth the money show more they don't have] =| show less

Just a fun afternoon in Mitford just before Christmas. People start building snowmen in front of the businesses including the regulars at the cafe. Mayor Cunningham appoints herself judge and everyone's a winner.
The Mitford Snowmen: A Christmas Story by Jan Karon
Mitford, the perfect Christmas place. First annual Christmas snow building contest, first ever, with recipe.
Have read many if not all of the series and glad I located this one. Such a nice community, where everybody helps one another. not too much drama, solutions.
In the middle of town business the snow has started and others have said there is a contest and there are prizes: a shovel, donuts, etc as the time goes on more prizes are added.
The mayor is the judge and she has prizes for all and the winners are able to view the lit lampposts when they light up for the night.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

2.0 Cute Christmas Story, but my least favorite of the Mitford offerings.
