What I loved most about this picture book was that it explained the way human bodies perform everyday tasks such as breathing, eating and moving but compared them to how fish do these things as well. I found that it was an interesting approach that made it easier for children to understand. I also enjoyed how the fish were labeled throughout the book, so it educates the reader on different species of fish as well. The illustrator created great visual aids by showing labeled body parts of fish and showed how fish breathe with a helpful diagram. At the end, it shows how to create a goldfish bowl and how to properly maintain it.

What’s it like to be a fish? In this book it takes a familiar pet (fish) and teaches you about their way of living. The illustrations are colorful and tight and the font is adequate. This book gives a great description of what a fish is and the importance of its position in the food chain is presented. Our cold blooded friend occupies the watery world where we cannot exist. Gills are the secret and their function is explained. In the back of the book, there is a neat section on how to set up your fish bowl. A fish bowl can be incorporated in the classroom for student participation as care givers.
This book shows many different types of fish in all types of waters. While it is informative, there are also paragraphs that can challenge students. They are not difficult paragraphs, but they could help with students that are learning how to read paragraphs.
This book is perfect for an intermediate reader. It discusses in length the life of a fish. Specifically, their eating habits, all the places they can live, and how they breathe. This picture book includes detailed pictures of how a fish swims. It constantly makes comparison between fish and humans, which for young students is important. it helps them draw their own conclusions. This books even goes as far to show the reader step by step how to bring a fish home from the store and introduce it to it's new aquarium. The main idea of this text what what the life of a fish is like. This was supported by all of the factual information provided, like how a fish swims, breathes, and where they live.
This book talks about some of the different types of fish and how fish differ from humans. It goes through where fish live, how they breathe, why they can swim better than humans, and how their bodies are made up. It is a cute book to introduce children to fish.

This book was an alright book, it did have good information in it. I can relate to this book because when I was younger I had a pet goldfish, even though I did not like them it taught me to take care of an animal.

As a classroom extension, the class could draw pictures of fish in their environment and label the fish with the correct parts. We also might set up a goldfish bowl in our classroom.
This book is all about different types of fish and how they live. It also addresses the differences between fish and humans. This book would be great to activate prior knowledge or introduce a science lesson on fish or an ocean study. The back of the book also has instructions on how to set up a fish bowl so the students could do it themselves or in a classroom.
