Lama Thubten Yeshe (1935-84) was born in Tibet and educated at the great Sera Monastic University. In the late 1960s he began teaching Buddhism to Westerners at Kopan Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal, with Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
