A disturbing story about a girl struggling to get out from under her overbearing and neurotic mother and sister. After being crushed by their fears all her life, she's ready to explore life.

But what is she willing to tolerate in order to be free of them? Is she living with a ghost or is she just seeing things?

It was an interesting tale, but not one that will haunt of spook me. It was light in it's surreal elements.
Amber “runs away” from her mother and her hysterical spoilt sister Poppy to live in a student house in Cornwall. She gets a job, makes new friends and starts to find her feet, but her worry over what she has done awakens an evil presence in the house – the ghost of Ivy. A sees a figure on the stairs, someone standing behind her in a mirror, hears a rocking chair, and a rattling window when the window is jammed shut. Then A gets tonsillitis so badly she collapses and her mother & sister come to the house to look after her. P loves it so much she decides to stay and Ivy thrives on Poppy’s manipulative character. Creepy psychological thriller with supernatural overtones and makes you want to strangle A for not telling her mother & show more sister exactly what she thinks of them!p.34-41 Amber looks for a job show less

First words
The path up to the front door was thick with leaves fallen early from the plane tree by the gate. Amber put down her huge suitcase and rummaged in her bag for the key, miming to the cab driver that she was OK, everything was ... (show all)OK.
Last words
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)Marty, kissing her in bed that night, told her this was the surest sign of his approval you could get.
