Honestly, this is just a cute children’s story and I’m not embarrassed to admit I love it. I’ve read this multiple times to my little sister before (who also loves hearing it) and I still enjoy it as much as I did the first time I read it to her. In my opinion, it’s the best book in this series.
Also, I did not expect to get so called out by this book, but hey, we’re all sometimes sour grapes, aren’t we? As long as we try our best to be more sweet than sour, don’t hold grudges for long periods of time and give the people who hurt us the chance to explain, we can all get better, which is a lesson the book does a great job of teaching. Definitely a 5 star book.

This one may not be the best in the series, but since I empathize, I'm rounding up to four stars. They're a little obvious, but nonetheless charming, and I'll continue to make sure I've read them all.
This was the first Jory John story that my child and I read together, and we were delighted when we reached the end. Beyond its humor, the book imparted valuable lessons on forgiveness, letting go of grudges, the importance of listening, compassion, and empathy. Alongside the captivating story, the vibrant illustrations beautifully complemented the colorful characters and settings. This delightful tale is just one of several in Jory John's "food" story series, that we highly recommend.
Sour Grape is about a grape who gets upset easily and has a hard time letting things go. He tends to hold grudges, but throughout the story he learns that forgiving people can make life a lot easier and friendships a lot stronger. The illustrations are bright, funny, and add a lot to the story. I think kids will relate to the feelings of Sour Grape experiences, even if they don't always want to admit it. I would recommend this book to elementary students and fans of Jory John's other books like The Bad Seed and The Good Egg. This would be a fun read-aloud and would fit well with lessons or conversations about friendship, kindness, empathy, and handling big emotions.
This book follows a grape with some sour emotions. The books follows this grape who shares things that frustrated it. Story follows ideas about the grapes grandparents and it’s birthday. I think that the illustrations do a great job at showing the grapes frustration and how we can tell the grape is holding grudges by it's facial expressions. I really loved this book, super funny and follows a great storyline. Would love to have this in my primary classrooms library.
I think this book is really cute and is perfect for elementary school kids. The book is about a grape and him trying to regulate and control his emotions. He makes friends and grows throughout the story. This book is perfect for teaching kids about emotions and feelings and about how to control them.
The Sour Grape holds grudges for everything, until a friend holds a grudge that he doesn't understand does he realize that his grudges aren't fair to others either. He learns to forgive and show compassion with apologies and letting his grudges go.
