I found this book brutally bad. If it were possible to give it a negative rating, then I would.
The plot is ridiculously choppy, and the way Gerontius ends up entwined with the man Haller is hunting is much too contrived.
Due to the use of freely used profanity when Haller visits Slaughter in his home, I'd definitely NOT recommend this for a middle school. I picked the book up because the students are always asking for scary stories, but this is not a good recommendation for them. There's got to be better scary books out there.
