Really more of an extended pamphlet, but very useful (and necessary) information. Perhaps a bit short on the practical fixes to these issues, but heavy on the advocacy.

. This informative handbook takes a holistic approach to understanding the concerns of library workers in the US, addressing an array of topics such as the effect of wellness on overall productivity, ways to respond to physical space issues in the workplace, and the correlation between diversity and inclusion initiatives and wellness. These topics come with practical management-level advice show more aimed at gradual improvements instead of overhauling all at once. show less

In this guide, Newman holistically addresses this shortcoming by providing ways to improve the health and wellness of library employees. While concise, this book is rich in ideas. This well researched guide concludes with a list of multiple references for further study. Newman acknowledges the challenges in implementing these changes but emphasizes that they are worth it, not just for the show more health of staff but for the library overall. VERDICT Recommended as an essential and practical resource for libraries to provide a healthy, sustainable workspace. show less
