I crawled into Ryan Jensen's bed that first night by accident. I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister's bed-her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...I didn't. I didn't jump out. I didn't get embarrassed. I relaxed. And, that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved. I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept. The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have. He became my sanctuary. Because, four hours earlier, my twin sister killed herself. * Standalone full-length novel, Mature YA themes.… (more)

This was an emotional read, but sometimes you just need to read a book that makes you feel, and this is one of those books. In the story you follow Mackenzie, whose twin sister has just committed suicide. This loss has shattered her world, and she has a lot of trouble processing it all, especially when her family isn't handling well and shuts her out when she needs them the most. That night she is left staying with strangers and accidentally gets into Ryan's bed, but it turns out being with Ryan is the one thing that gives her sanctuary from the grief she is feeling. The emotions are raw in this book but the romance helps lighten the mood, a great balance. It is truly a realistic view on suicide and how it affects those that are left behind. It's about learning to process your grief and put your pieces back together, even if it takes a long time. It's also an important lesson that how you view others isn't always how they view themselves. The book is beautifully written and it's one those that you just can't stop reading because you're so engrossed in the story. This was the first book I've read by Tijan, but I definitely plan to read more! ( )

Tijan did an amazing job once again. This book just blew me away. I honestly do not know what to say about this book. This book will take any reader on an emotional roller-coaster. ( )

This book wasn't for me.
I commend the author for dealing with teen suicide, but it was mostly about the popular in crowd, bullying and all the beautiful girls after Ryan.
I think the genre was aimed at a younger audience, I didn't realize before picking it up it was older high school/ college life.
I did finish it, but it was a struggle, I found it a bit repetitive and boring and guessed the so called twist before the end.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. So many words come to mind, but trying to put them down in a way that makes any semblance of sense seems to be an elusive task. This book has been on my TBR for a long time. despite the high reviews, I wasn't sure I wanted to read a story that was entirely written during the character's senior year. I was wrong to have waited. Holy hell, I was SO wrong.

This had all the angst I think I can handle for a while. My heart hurts. I cannot even begin to express the maelstrom of emotions that I am feeling in regards to this story and the subject matter. The author took a very painful subject and showed the after-effects of the devastation that it causes to the people it affects. I liked how the author didn't sugarcoat how it might feel different for the people experiencing. The unanswered questions, the sadness, the grief, the coping techniques, the anger, the guilt, and haunting what ifs... And the ending... sweet lord. BRILLIANT.

This is definitely a book that I will be thinking about for a very long time. It touched me and it will be remembered for a very long time. The author deserves all the accolades from writing this truly sublime, albeit painful, story. ( )

At a loss for words. This book was so sad, but uplifting and shocking. There are so many emotions with this book it's hard to put a finger on just one. I love Tijan's books and she has never written anything that I didn't love. This book was a tough look at the aftermath of suicide, and how those left behind cope. It's raw, it's honest, and it's really deep. You feel for the characters so much, it's like you are living in that nightmare world. This is told in Mackenzie's pov. ( )
