What a terrible read! I could not wait to work my way through this pile of horsehockey. It was boring, repetitive and although the concept was good the execution was totally lacking. There is a portion of the book (40 to 60 pages) dedicated to a running gunfight on a train. After a short while it devolved into an ongoing "Perils of Pauline" when 10 pages might have been effective in conveying the story. This book dragged on and on and seems it was about 100-150 pages too long. My experience with this travesty was best when I put it down for the last time.
This is a two star book, and that's being generous.

Filled with all the trademark action, spycraft, wild chases, insane fights, and double-dealing villains, this was still as fun as the previous 11 installments, but there was something...
I don't know if it's getting to the "I've seen it all before" stage with this series. Or maybe it's the specificity that perhaps I haven't noticed before (Greaney details that it takes 20 seconds before someone responds, he details the countdown—again, to the second—before charges will go off...despite Gentry battling someone trying to kill him...underwater...)
Honestly, I'd settle for, "time's running out" or "it took longer than normal for her to respond" or whatever. But the specifics piled up a lot.
There's also a major plot hole toward the end show more that Greaney tries to ride roughshod over with a ticking clock and action, but all I'll say is, instead of demanding information by 10:00 am, they could have just told everyone to sit tight until, say...2:00 pm, and it would have been a better result.
Anyway, I'll keep reading these, because Greaney's still the best guy doing this stuff as far as I'm concerned, but it is feeling a little old now... show less

The plot line is very difficult to follow. The action scenes are a great read, but I gave up half way through because I lost the plot entirely. This book falls short of the author’s previous novels.
