Roman Forts - The military achievements of Rome were unprecedented. It's vast empire was won and held by a formidable and highly organized army and it's frontiers secured by fortresses, forts, and impressive defensive works. Despite extensive archaeological excavation of Roman forts, this is the first definitive survey of the subject, concentrating primarily upon Britain the German provinces during the first two hundred years of Roman occupation.
