I had totally forgotten I read this book over 15 years ago! What good memories! Sadly I recall I borrowed my book to a dear friend and some jerk broke into his house and stole it, so I could never get it back.
From what I remember, the book rings true of nostalgia. Some pages were witty, others were meh. It's a book to read and laugh for a few minutes. I think younger generations will not enjoy this book because they don't have the same nostalgic childhood memories I did. And yes, it is not the best book ever, but it sure was a fun read. Good printing, and decent overall paperback book quality.
Well worth a read if you're curious to see what the big hooplah over this book is all about.
3 1/2 stars!

I have such fond memories of the Simpson’s, especially Bart. There’s something entertaining in his absolute determination to be anti-everything. He’s rude, disobedient, obnoxious and yet we love him.
I can’t really describe this book. It’s a conglomeration of Bart’s wisdom from sex to religion to cheating in school. Some of the information is based in fact but I wouldn’t use it for a report. Despite it feeling childish, this book is not for children. The language is a little rough and there are some ideas your children just don’t need to have come from someone else (let alone think of on their own).
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I felt like I was back in high school pouring over Life is Hell in the back show more of class with my friends. This is one you could probably read over and over because there are so many little parts to each page. I’m glad I picked this up. I needed a little sunshine to carry me on to spring. show less

Nice entertaining read for a 5 hour car ride. Some truly inspired jokes as well as plenty mild ones. Basically, this book can't really decide who its audience is, and so is spotty, but has something for everyone.
A nice little book of Bart's philosophy of life in every situation. The last section is devoted to religion and religious questions to ask Sunday school teachers.
Bart Simpson's Guide To Life: This book is absolutely packed with pictures, captions, witty comments, information and, more importantly, hilarity.
I think anyone could read this book with enjoyment, not just children with a mind similar to Bart Simpson. There is so much to read in so many places that I doubt many people can honestly say they've read every single word-not because it's boring but because you can so easily miss something. On the contrary, it is very interesting and very funny. Well worth it's price and very cleverly made. I'd recommend it to anyone with a sense of humour.

Strangely entrancing and solidly entertaining. Minus one star for shoddy, sloppy artwork occasionally. Plus one star for the running gag on the secret to life. I've used these lessons many times throughout life - no joke - and always been satisfied. Thanks, Bart!

Matt Groening, 1954 - Matt Groening was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He moved to Los Angeles in 1980 to start writing the comic strip "Life in Hell" for the newspaper he worked for. The strip had premiered in 1977 and appears in over 250 newspapers worldwide. Groening got his big break when the Fox television network was looking for a show more filler for "The Tracy Ullman Show." James L. Brooks had seen some of the "Life in Hell" strips and offered Groening a chance to create 30 second skits for the show. The skits were so well received that the newly titled "The Simpsons" for which Groening was now creator and executive producer of, debuted on Fox as a half hour Christmas special on December 17, 1989 and as a regular series on January 14, 1990. In 1993, Groening formed "Bongo Comics Group" which publishes "Simpsons Comics," "Itchy and Scratchy Comics," "Bartman," "Radioactive Man," "Lisa Comics" and "Krusty Comics." In 1995, he founded and published "Zongo Comics," which included "Jimbo" and "Fleener" Groening oversees all of the licensing and merchandising of the "The Simpsons." He is also a best selling author, publishing books such as "Life in Hell," "Work is Hell" and "School is Hell," based on his "Life in Hell" comic strip, and "Bart Simpson's Guide to Life" based on "The Simpsons" animation. Groening is also creator and Executive Producer of "Futurama," another animated prime time television show. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
