The Girl in the Castle has been only the third James Patterson title I have read. There are just too many titles, but I decided to give this one a chance. I adored the adult fiction title Sundays at Tiffany's but really disliked Witch & Wizard, which, like The Girl in the Castle, is a Young Adult title.
My appreciation of The Girl in the Castle falls closer to that of Sundays at Tiffany's with its tinge of dual timelines, NYC references and characters for which you develop caring feelings. But its very short chapters, like those of Witch & Wizard, reeked of plot outline format and lack some deeper character development.
There are lots of trigger warnings for this book which revolve around mental illness and violence against men, women and children in both timelines.
But even though I wished for a different ending, I did like the unexpected, but real, resolution. ( )
