The author of this book is Dr. Miriam Nelson, Director of the Center for Physical Activity and Nutrition and Associate Professor of Nutrition at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She writes at a level easily understood by lay people and this science-based book has many practical suggestions that will help you protect your bones from osteoporosis. Nelson explains how bones are formed and remodeled then goes on to look at diet, exercise and medication and their role in osteoporosis. Falls prevention is also covered. At the end of the book are several useful forms to enable you to keep track of your calcium consumption, aerobic exercise and strength buildiing programme.
One of the best on osteoporosis for non-professionals but needs updating since 2000. Still a good reference for prevention, exercise, & nutrition.
