This is the 2nd book in the Obsidian Chronicles series and it is not a disappointment. I feel that this series and the author are both under-rated. It is not fantastic writing, nor a compelling setting, but it is a very different approach to the humans vs. dragons theme. In the Lands of Man, dragons rule surpeme, while a few survivors of dragonhearts lead very extended lifetimes due to the injestion of a mix of dragon venom and human blood. One of those survivors has sworn vengeance on the dragons and the Dragon Society members responsible for destroying his family and his village. Near immortality isn't as important to Lord Obsidian as justice and revenge.
A very different sort of fantasy, no cute dragons or fantastic magic here.
