Another great entry in the series, full of action, character development, and world building. If you liked the previous novels, you'll like this one, though it's maybe a bit too long for its own good. This is a gigantic novel. It's over 1000 pages, and the middle bit can drag. The last 10% has a huge payoff, especially for a book in the middle of a series, but I think it could have been edited a little more tightly or maybe split into 2 books. Before the very end of the novel when the action picked up, I was starting to feel like it would never end.

Nonetheless, this is a good entry in the series and shows a steady, noticeable improvement over the earlier books. The prose here won't blow anyone away, but it's serviceable and this is a fun show more classic fantasy story. show less
A huge thanks to the author for the e-Arc and it goes without saying that this review is my unbiased opinion.

Of War and Ruin feel like the Mid-season finale of The Bound and the Broken series. It Provided answers for questions raised in the previous books but made me ask more which i am sure will be answered on the next 2 entries.

This book expanded the world much much more. Along the way the characters are also expanded and analysed throughly. Perspective plays an important part in this story. Even the bad guys has a good side and their perspective explores why they think that this is good and necessary.

This book has some of the best and Epic action scenes. when i say Epic, believe me it is Epic and at many times throughout reading show more this, i had fear for the characters and how much the scale of the battle changes in an instant. Some deaths felt like anvils on my chest and some felt like celebrations.

All in all, this book makes you feel pain, sorrow and happiness for all the characters and still there are much much more to come is a comfort.
