Esther plans a scrumptious cake to make for each of her friends but the cost is staggering and gives her pause.
2.5 A fun little Christmas story I haven’t read in almost 18 years or so. It was a fun giving the second read through and recalling baking the cake recipe at the end of the book.
Short story with beautiful pictures centered around Esther Bolick, Mitford's resident baker of orange marmalade cakes. She's been making these cakes for years, and almost decides its not worth the trouble, especially after her husband calculates the cost. In the end, she makes all she originally planned to make.
