SPOILER: Yossel Zissel travels to collect his inheritance of gold, but converts it to feathers which he expects will be blown by the wind to his home in Chelm. The book ends with Zissel telling his townsmen that just as the feathers have scattered around the world it is time for the people of Chelm to do the same and share their wisdom.
