"It's hard to find an employer who doesn't ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want. It's almost perfect. But I still haven't met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I'm sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I'm doing laundry. And one day I can't help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything...That's when I make a promise. After all, I've done this before. I can protect Mrs Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe. Douglas Garrick has done wrong. He is going to pay. It's simply a question of how far I'm willing to go..." --publisher's website.… (more)

Didn't see that coming

Because I loved the first book, I decided to give the 2nd one a try. It wasn't as intense as the first one but it had its thrill and twists. I did enjoy the book and I enjoy Freida's writing style. I didn't give this a full 5 star rating because I felt in the first book Millie was this street smart woman but in this second installment after supposedly have already helped numerous women in bad situations she somehow falls so easily into a very dumb situation, that's the best way for me to put it without smoking it.
Overall the book was great don't get me wrong, but my biggest pet peeve in series is when in the first book the hero or heroin is super badass but then in the second does the dumbest mistake, like it makes no sense. Glad she makes up for it in the end.I still highly recommend if you love thrillers with a plot twist that is unexpected. ( )

OMG. I couldn't put it down. I don't know if I want a another sequel as this was so good. Ms. McFadden is a very talented lady. ( )

Once again another great book from the author. Couldn't put it down. Finished in less than 8 hours. ( )

This book was a disappointment to me. The characters were single-dimensional, the plot was stagnant and there was zero tension or suspense. I did not like any of the characters, and the book just seemed to meander aimlessly. I don't know why I finished it, but thought it would get better soon, but it never happened. I certainly cannot recommend this book. ( )
