An excellent short introduction to the political applications of Social Ecology. This book makes ready its reader for debates over the historical presence and possible modern application of direct democracy. Social Ecology, as conceptualized by Bookchin and Biehl, does not pay mere lip-service to direct democracy as an admirable, but unobtainable goal. The authors of this text admirably put forward a realistic, historically tangible and organizationally obtainable vision of a directly democratic society, organized along libertarian-municipalist lines.
