This was a story of best friends that are kept apart by the Civil War. They have a tin heart necklace that reminds them of their friendship. This story is about overlooking difference and long lasting friendship. It has some interesting details about the Civil War era. This would be a fun introduction into a unit on the Civil war.

Critique of Genere- This is Historical Fiction because it tells a story of things that could have happened and it is historically accurate.
