In the outpost town of Mossport, the paths of backwoodsman Pike Granger and infamous soldier-turned-outlaw Hellion Swash merge. Each man came to the lakeside town for a different reason, but both become intrigued by a cash reward to hunt a beast terrorizing the town. Their shared pursuit of the monster will pull them into a hidden world, closed off from civilization for millennia. Before departing, Pike hastily promised the beautiful but prickly innkeeper of Mossport he'd return for her, but things get complicated when he rescues a native girl from certain death. Bloodthirsty cannibals will hunt them and force a choice that could risk destruction of the world they know. To make it out alive, they need the Spear of Song. However, one must be worthy to wield such a weapon. Hellion Swash may be the worst of humanity. That leaves Pike. Untold power can be a curse, even in the best of mankind's hands. But what kind of man is Pike? Two worlds hang in the balance as he struggles to find out.… (more)
