This book was well written. The facts of his life are mapped out on the time line in the book. The theme was on the trials of the indians when their land was taken and they were placed in the reservation. The illustrations are very vivid even though are black and white. The format of the books gives other information about different subjects on show more the pictures in some places in the book. The book has a great plot to it. It is told by the facts.
Groups of children could do a paper on different types of Indians and their cultures. This could include a written paper and a poster with information about that type of indian.
Group discussions could be used to begin a social study theme on indians. A word search for types of Indians could be done. show less
