I just love Freida. As long as you know you're going in reading a popcorn thriller, but they go fast and totally draw me in. This wasn't my favorite Freida, but it was still good. I love the portrayal of an almost autistic person. And the letters that were written to get her side of the story - which of course turned out not to be true. I had that feeling because Mia's responses were always so short and sweet and barely said anything about her own life. SPOILER: The ending was good that the main character did end up living. I thought the autistic coworker lady would end up killing her, but you do find out she killed her friend. Fun concept, enjoyed listening to the book. Just not sure how much I'll remember of this one going forward. ( )

I never know where I am going to land after reading one of Freida's novels. I, at least, do know I don't want to miss one of them. I like well done eccentrics so the character of Dawn was easy to get behind. When there isn't a twisty surprise I miss that. This was a "keep me hanging on as I know there must be a twist coming" type of read. Also, because I know spite-filled people, Freida's characters were believable, landing me with "worth the read". Well, this was an enjoyable "toxic workplace" unreliable narrator end of the year book! I did see some of the twists coming but it didn't keep this book from keeping me up late last night to finish it! Natalie is the top sales rep at the company where Dawn has recently been hired as an accountant. They start off as friendly but soon, Dawn, with her never-ending talk about turtles and being extremely literal becomes the target of Natalie's mean girl tendencies. ( )

This is a binge-worthy and fast-paced psychological thriller. Despite seeing some of the twists coming, this book remains quite entertaining and it kept me engrossed. I love the email exchanges.

The Coworker is about toxic workplace, office drama, bullying, revenge, and suicide. Almost all the characters are lying about one thing or another, which adds to the drama and suspense of the story.

The ending wasn't what I expected, and the choices made by the characters are somewhat unbelievable. I also think the recurring mention of turtles was a bit excessive. But overall, this was an enjoyable story. ( )
