Description
This review summarizes current knowledge of the embryology of limb development and mechanisms that control the correct arrangement of limb structures. These same mechanisms operate in both right and left limbs and thus it is difficult to account for the asymmetrical defects within this framework. The review also highlights the considerable progress that has been made in unravelling the molecular basis of pattern specification in developing limbs.Author Information
