161 pages of accurate quotes from Hollywood's (mostly older) insiders. Lots of stories get made up and passed off as truth by hangers-on. Published in 2001, this is a book I enjoy browsing through just for a few moments at a time. Cicero said, "There is nothing so absurd that some philosopher has not already said it." Well these quotes are not absurdities but pessimistic opinions about movies, acting, and living in Los Angeles. A very good book! No Index or sources page but 16 Chapters divided into: Hooray For Hollywood; Lights Camera! Action!; That's A Wrap; Sweet Smell of Success; What's in a Name?; Mirror, Mirror; So They Say; It's All Relative; Love & Marriage; The Naked Truth; I'll Drink to That; Whatever You Say; Critic-isms; show more Extra! Extra!; If They Only Knew; Into the Sunset. show less
