Stulman's findings will have to be tested by further study of theological, stylistical, and formal criteria. Given its limited scope, the work offers a valuable contribution to Jeremiah studies.

These reservations do not affect the larger importance of Stulman's work. He has done a superb job bringing precision to the matter of deuteronomistic diction in the Book of Jeremiah, at both LXX and MT text stages. Since modern commentaries remain divided on this question (compare Holladay and Carroll), Stulman's study makes an important contribution to the ongoing debate.
