📖 The Everqueen by L.J. Andrews
💭 My Thoughts
How do you move on from a story like this? I just finished The Ever Queen and I’m honestly still sitting with all my feelings. L.J. Andrews wrote such a fiercely emotional romantasy story with Erik and Livia and I can’t stop mulling over all the love, heartbreak, and yearning with these two!
It was so heartwarming to see people come together in this book. Friends and family really pulled through, making it easy to fall in love with so many side characters. It was sweet, even with betrayal, war and high stakes in the forefront.
I know I’m going to have the worst book hangover for days, but in the best way. Seeing these two finally get the ending they deserved made me so happy. I would show more 100% re-read these books again!
🎯 Who Might Like It
If you enjoy dark romantasy with a fierce love story, deep emotions, found family/friends, and betrayal this series is for you. And of course, Viking and Pirate fae! ⚔️🏴☠️
✨ Favourite Quote
“They played, that serpent and songbird, from sunup to sundown” … “And lived happily ever after.”
(This moment actually made me tear up. I was so happy for them that I couldn’t hold it in 🥲) show less

This was an excellent sequel to "The Ever King". Lots of Pirates of the Caribbean meets ACOTAR vibes. After Livia is stolen by a rival at the conclusion of the last book, it's up to the Ever King, Erik, to get his queen back. There's lots of good atmosphere here. If you like adventure on the high seas with high fae, this is for you!
One aspect of the story, the breaking of a bond between a couple, had me thinking we've done this before (I'm looking at you Rhysand and Feyre), but overall, this was a solid entry in the series. I can't wait to start in on the next one!

I love that this reunites Livia's family, although I still stick by that her family would have done more from the beginning. I was actually just blurring through her chapters to get to Erik's to read about them. Overall I did enjoy the book and can't wait for the next.
Honestly, I found the whole Elven storyline entirely stupid. I read the entire first series and I don't recall that they were ever mentioned, so it's a rather late add-in.

Too much f...ing in order to fill in enough pages, disappointing.
