Description
The second book in the steamy, hilarious Campus Diaries series by New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy, set in the same world as Off Campus and Briar U.**_"I told them I had a girlfriend."
I start to laugh. "This is the greatest day of my life."
"Oh, it gets better, Dixon. I told them it was you."_**
Diana Dixon has a lot going on this summer. She's rehearsing for a ballroom dance competition, juggling two jobs, and dealing with an ex-boyfriend who can't take the hint it's over. show more Yet despite all that, she still has plenty of time and energy to tell Shane Lindley to screw off.
Shane just moved into her apartment building and seems dedicated to sleeping his way through her entire cheerleading squad. Sure, he's a tall, gorgeous hockey player, but he's messing with her turf. This calls for some ground rules: no parties in her apartment, leave her teammates alone, and—most importantly—leave her alone.
What Diana doesn't realize is that Shane's sick of hookups and tired of being on the rebound after his long-term girlfriend called it quits. He wants a relationship. And when his ex comes back into the picture, he pretends he has one to make her jealous...and who better to play the girlfriend role than his sassy new neighbor?
Despite Diana's reluctance to break her rule, a fake relationship is the perfect solution for her own ex issues, and soon she can't deny something is sizzling between her and Shane. Something hot and completely unexpected.
And it might just be getting a little too real.

Diana Dixon, a cheerleader with a hectic schedule, and Shane Lindley, a charming hockey player, start off as bickering neighbors. When both need to deal with their exes, they enter a fake relationship that sparks genuine feelings. Diana’s strong personality and Shane’s sweet nature create sizzling chemistry, making their journey from reluctant allies to lovers captivating. The book sensitively addresses serious issues like physical abuse, adding emotional depth to the steamy romance. The audiobook, narrated by Erin Mallon and Corvin King, enhances the experience with their engaging performances, bringing the characters to life. I loved the witty banter, well-developed characters, and the blend of humor and heartfelt moments.
Good spice. Funny. Nice enemies to lovers. Fake dating done well. Great book to be honest. Ran through it despite it being long. His dad’s storyline had me crying on the plane. Loved that there was no 3rd act break up. Was disappointed when it ended, wanted to read more.
The Dixon Rules by Elle Kennedy
The Campus Diaries series #2. New adult romance, HFN. Fake relationship, friends with benefits troupes. Diverse.
Diana Dixon has a lot going on between rehearsals for a dance competition, two jobs, and an ex-boyfriend that won’t go away. She doesn’t want anything to do with the hot hockey player, Shane Lindley, who has slept his way through her entire cheer squad.
Shane has recently moved into the same building as Diana. He’s done with random hookups, and still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend who broke up with him. He asks Diana to pretend they’re together when his ex shows up and soon they find it’s a benefit they can both use. Fake soon turns to sizzling heat as they spend time together. show more
🎧 I listened to an audiobook of this story narrated by Erin Mallon and Corvin King in alternating POV chapters. These two narrators perform with great intensity making it easy to follow and really be engaged in the performance. Keep the windows rolled up as these college age characters enjoy a lot of sex. 🤣 Hot and panty melting! There is also some angst as expected as well with a parental death and a separate case of physical assault. Both of which had me crying.
Edited recording corrections are clear as the volume level changes for those. A bit annoying but those will bring you back to present rather than inactive listening.
Overall I thought the performances were wonderful and representative of the age group.
I listened to the book at my regular preferred speed of 1.5 which was the best for conversational comfort.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and publisher Dreamscape Select. show less

This was just as amazing as The Graham Effect. This book had me laughing, swooning, and crying. This was such an amazing book, and I can’t wait for The Charlie Method! Great book. Can’t recommend it enough.
