despite the hokey 70's art work, this book did a fair job of slaying me in just a little over 300 pages. disturbing, graphic, and dabbling mildly in magic realism, _The Darkness Within_ takes us through four generations of a maternal family curse. the human monsters in this work are believable, creepy, scary, and sick; the story, a series of tightly spun, dangerous vignettes that come together to form a cataclysmic ending. is anyone redeemed in the fallout? read and see.
