It's been long enough since I first read this that I'd pretty much forgotten everything and the ending twist was actually a mild re-surprise. I do recall that I was going to get tired of the series if this was going to be the trend.

Sadly, Rosenberg had a feud with the publisher and stopped the series here. Even more sadly, his untimely death meant we'll never know where he was going to go with this. More's the pity.
I really enjoyed this series. 20th century people from Earth get tangled up in modern day adventures in Asgard, with the Norse gods who have declined, but not quite gone away. Unfortunately by this book, I wished things would move along towards some kind of resolution, but they don't quite. If you enjoy Norse mythology, you'll enjoy this.
