This is a decent modern update of Raspe's original eighteenth-century work: Stein manages to retain an eloquence of language and style that is consistent with its source material. Munchausen spins some amusing tall tales throughout the 15 chapters of this short work, although a few of the stories in the latter half of the book treat serious social and environmental issues a bit too frivolously for my tastes. Nevertheless, I definitely appreciate a twenty-first century take on a genre that's been underrepresented by new works for the last few centuries.
I received this book as a free advanced reading copy, but this review is my own opinion.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.A fun satire on the current-day United States as seen through the eyes of the legendary Baron von Munchausen. The writing was fresh and kept me interested until the end. Hopefully, the good baron may visit us once more sometime in the future.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book started out as being deliciously bonkers, then it went a bit weird, and by the end I was getting a little bored with the Baron's adventures.
Mostly, it was an entertaining read, but I was glad it wasn't longer.
I came to the book with no real knowledge about Baron von Munchausen, although the name rang some distant bells. I was disappointed to find that this is not a character this authour has created. I feel a little cheated, especially when I note that the credits say that the characters & etc. are products of the author's imagination.
