I would probably give this book 5 stars if it had an ending.

I loved the story of Kileios, her moral dilemmas. After a bit I started to feel that every thing happened to Keleios, and she was more lucky than anybody should be. That is a frequent problem with book that have a hero. When every posssible problem happens to the main character and she is always abble to overcome it I start to feel that the plot isn't belivable anymore. But when a character in the book point out that Keleios always had a more than normal luck it made it ok to me. The over the top luck became part of the plot and not only a "I want the hero to do everything" problem of the plot.

But then the book ends and Keleios didn't ended her mission to rescue her friends.
My show more first thought that my ebook was bad. It had repeated pages, it coud have missing ones...
But then I saw one of the review here and it had a quote from one of the last pages, and I had read that...

The end of the book is not an ending at all, there's to many loose ends.
I hate when a writer does this in a book, because it keeps me from moving on to other book. Considering the theme of the book, it's like a spell and it keeps me traped in Keleios world. I hope I can break it soon...

The story revolves around noble half-elf Keleios Nightseer, skilled prophet and master enchanter. Upon reaching adulthood, Keleois found herself gifted with the power of sorcery, and so she was forced to relinquish her master status and return to the magic school at Zeln's Keep to learn to control her new power. Hamilton has created yet another fascinating world that her readers can immerse themselves in. Though there are some flaws in the plot, it is on the whole a very impressive first effort. I do wish there were not so many loose ends left dangling when the book came to a close, but this didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book as a whole. "Nightseer" is a fun-filled romp through a wild and wonderful world of dragons, show more sorcerers, witches and demons, and it is most certainly worth reading! show less
Nightseer is Laurell K.Hamilton's debut novel, and it is quite good for being a first effort. Fans of Hamilton will easily see the evolution of Anita Blake and Jean-Claude. This is set in a fantasy realm where the daughter of a powerful, and murdered, sorceress is being courted by an "evil" Dark Elf. Unfortunately, the novel ends with many questions unanswered. Nightseer didn't sell well enough after release for the publisher to buy the sequel. However, Hamilton says she has a sequel plotted out and hopes to release it in the future now that her popularity is so high. I hope so, I'd like to learn the fate of the two protagonist.
Some cliches as to be expected in this genre (the MC is a half-elf with powers and many enemies), but I liked this book better than the later books in the Anita Blake series. Two and a half stars, but I'll round up. I'd consider reading it again after enough time passes, so it's three stars. (Two-star books are ones I would never re-read.)
An excellent read and one of Hamilton's best works. I had entirely forgotten why I used to like Hamilton's works but now I remember again. If you enjoy the first few titles in Anita Blake series, you'll love this book. It belongs to the time where Laurell K.Hamilton was making a name for herself, so there is an actual plot.
A marvelous and capturing tale of treachery, bravery , friendship and enchantment.
Keleios is an half elf sorceress with prophetic and small demonic powers and one of the few survivors , who lived through the destruction of their keep. To make the matters even more complicated, she is forced to accept, the man she'd planned to kill in a duel , as her future consort. And of course this is just the beginning of the story....
I really enjoyed this book. I was more a fan of LKH in the beginning of her writing, as opposed to now, and this book has all of the good points of her earlier writing - less sex, more action. It is, however, amusing to see some of Anita Blake's personality traits pop up in the main character of this book, Keleios. It's easy to see the idiosyncrasies in Hamilton's writing through her female characters and their relationships.
This book was fantastic. I loved it even though the author throws you right in the middle of a story and then just ends as abruptly as it begins. I really wish that she would've kept the story going. She had alot to build on. I would definately recomend this book especially if you are already a fan of Laurell K. Hamilton. It has everything a fantasy reader could want, demons, evil witchs, elves, warriors, and a cat that is not quite a cat.
