Description
Yuna never wanted to adopt a dog. But with her partner in mourning - and in desperate need of a boost in morale - she gives in to his humble request. And in the grand tradition of reluctant pet owners, she and their puppy soon become inseparable. The young couple even goes so far as to relocate to soothe their new canine pal's anxiety. After all, there's nothing like a move to the country to set yourself right. Right? --Tags

In this fictionalized account of her own life, when the author's stand-in moves from Seoul to the Korean countryside she finds that rural life still includes some traditions and practices she thought had been left behind by a society that now frequently dotes on their pets like children.
Sensitive dog lovers had best avoid this book, because apparently, sometimes, “They’re eating the dogs! They’re eating the cats!” isn’t just a paranoid delusion.
The first half of the book is a bit dull as the author just talks about her own pet adoption journey, but the creepiness and cruelty of the second half slapped me awake. And the final image is downright chilling.
