This book made me relive the a younger version of myself as my grandparents would often tell me stories of animals or people overcoming great obstacles in their life. I find this book does not alienate anyone who is not familiar with the telling of the Hispanic or Latino mythology. You can almost imagine yourself helping the family up to Huillcaca to avoid drowning.
One day, a man's llama will not eat no matter how he pleads. The llama warns that a great flood is coming. As the man's family flees to a high mountain, they warn animals along the way who join them.
